Celebrating Truck Drivers: Why We Do What We Do
Truck drivers keep Wisconsin moving, and National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is our chance to say that out loud. Every grocery store shelf, every construction site, every farm shipping a harvest, all of it depends on someone behind the wheel of a truck, often driving through weather and hours that most people never have to think about. At Madison Spring, we do not just work near that world. We have been part of it since 1967.
Our whole business exists because of truck drivers. They are the reason we opened our doors, and they are the reason we are still here, decades later, with locations in Madison and Lodi. Every leaf spring we bend, every driveshaft we balance, every inspection we run, it all comes back to keeping a driver safely on the road and moving toward their next stop.
This week, we wanted to slow down and talk about that relationship directly. Not as a sales pitch, but as a genuine thank you to the people who have trusted us with their trucks, and in a lot of ways, with their livelihoods, for close to sixty years.
In this article, we will talk about the history behind our business, what truckers do for the rest of us every single day, how we try to honor that with the way we run our shop, and the drivers in our own customer base who keep us motivated to do this work well.
Who Are The Truck Drivers Who Built Our Business Since 1967?
Madison Spring has been family-owned since 1967, serving light and heavy duty trucks, trailers, tractors, and buses across South Central Wisconsin. For almost sixty years, our business has existed because of truck drivers and the fleets and owner-operators who depend on them.
Our Madison location is our flagship spring, suspension, and alignment shop, built around a state-of-the-art front and rear alignment facility. It is where we handle complete spring and suspension repair, custom-built springs and U-bolts, brake parts, wheel end components, and DOT inspections, along with parts sales and delivery across South Central Wisconsin.
Our Lodi location, about 30 minutes north of Madison, has served Sauk, Columbia, and Dane counties since 2013. It is built for larger jobs, driveshaft repair, engine and transmission diagnostics and repair, custom fabrication, hydraulic and wet kit upfitting, and rigs too big for our Madison bays. In 2026, Lodi added in-house driveshaft balancing capability, expanding what we can handle on-site for drivers who depend on that shop.
What we can say for certain is this: every driver who has come through our doors since 1967, for any kind of repair, has been part of the reason Madison Spring is still here today.
What Do Truck Drivers Actually Do For The Rest Of Us?

It is easy to take trucking for granted until you stop and think about what it actually takes to keep it running. Truck drivers are behind nearly everything that shows up in our daily lives. The food on grocery store shelves, the materials on a construction site, the packages on a front porch, all of it rode on a truck at some point, driven by someone who woke up early, planned a route, and put in long hours to get it there.
Drivers do this work through Wisconsin winters, through summer heat, through traffic and weather and schedules that leave little room for error. It is physically demanding, mentally demanding, and often thankless. Most people never see the work that goes into it. They just see the shelf that is stocked or the package that arrives on time.
That is exactly why weeks like this one matter. Taking a moment to actually say thank you, out loud, to the people doing that work is a small thing, but it means something.
How Does Madison Spring Try To Honor That Work?
We think the best way to honor truck drivers is not with a slogan; it is with how we actually run our shop every single day. That starts with fair pricing. We do not mark up parts to take advantage of a driver who needs a repair fast and does not have time to shop around. We price things honestly, whether it is a routine service or an emergency fix.
It also means honest work. If a part does not need to be replaced, we will not tell you it does. If a repair can wait until your next scheduled visit, we will tell you that instead of pushing an unnecessary service. Our Madison and Lodi teams have built their reputations on doing the job right, not on padding an invoice.
We also try to respect a driver’s time. We know that every hour a truck sits in our shop is an hour it is not earning money on the road, so we work efficiently and communicate clearly about what is going on and how long it will take. It is not complicated. It is just how we think a shop should treat the people who depend on it.
Who Are The Drivers In Our Customer Base Today?
Our customer base today includes owner-operators, small fleets, and larger commercial operations across South Central Wisconsin. Depending on the job, customers work with our Madison team for spring, suspension, alignment, brake, and wheel-end needs, or with our Lodi team for larger repairs such as engine, transmission, driveline, and fabrication work.
Between both locations, our teams handle everything from DOT inspections and preventative maintenance to custom fabrication and driveshaft balancing, the kind of work that keeps a wide range of trucks, trailers, tractors, and buses on the road across the region.
What we can say, honestly, is that Madison Spring has been family-owned and has been serving drivers in this region since 1967.
